If you are living in the Sacramento area, you are most likely reaching for a refreshing iced tea at the moment instead of a steaming cup of coffee, but winter is still making its presence known (East Coast we're talking to you). This next featured wedding is an elegant combination of winter and summer - where white winter roses meet warm blushing colors...perfect for a day like today!

This fun-loving couple was a joy to be around - always making me laugh and the love they shared for each other was truly an inspiration - and of course it was no different on their special day. Sara and Jeff married on November 23, 2013 in our Plaza Park Ballroom. The bride had a vision of color, texture, and romance, which could be seen in the rose colored sequin linen, the gold and lace patterned programs, and the flame-less candles down the aisle that set the tone. Nearly 100 guests witnessed this couple say their "I Do's" and then proceeded to our Scandal Lounge for Cocktail Hour.

Cocktail Hour concluded after a sampling of hors d'oeuvres and beverages and guests moved up to the Metropolitan Terrace for the Reception. There, the decor perfectly represented the couple's creative and romantic style. The room was a medley of blush and cream, sequin and satin, rosette and lace. Sara knew from the beginning that she did not want to commit to just one color or texture, and her gorgeous design proves that you do not have to! Even the stunning wedding cake wove together numerous patterns and designs. The evening continued with dinner and dancing, that sensational cake, and, much to everyone's enjoyment, karaoke! To top it all off, this gleeful group ended the night with an onsite after party complete with Citizen Sliders, a Corn Chip Station, and Citizen Cookies and Confections (mini s'mores anyone?). This wedding shows how rewarding it can be not to be afraid to play around with textures, to mix and match colors regardless of the season, and maybe at the end of the day, to sing your heart out with one you love!

The heart of winter is upon us and when that cold wind blows, we just want to snuggle up inside with a cozy blanket and warm fire. The winter seasons have gave way to many beautiful weddings here at The Citizen Hotel. There's something about those silver, blue, and cream colors that set such a romantic tone for this time of year.

Settle in with a warm cup of tea and enjoy as we present Natalie and Matthew. A stylish couple who married on November 3, 2013. With the winter sun set by the start of the ceremony, just under 100 guests gathered in our Metropolitan Terrace facing the illuminated Sacramento Capital. Flameless candles lined the aisle giving the room a soft glow, while gorgeous white flowers stood tall beside them. Then, (quite possibly my favorite moment of this wedding) "She's A Rainbow" by The Rolling Stones played as Natalie walked down the aisle. This beaming, vintage-glam bride fit right in with The Citizen Hotel motif. With elegant black lace and satin details on the dress, and an ornate blusher veil and headpiece, she looked as though she stepped right out of the 1940's. The couple exchanged their vows with the twinkling city skyline as their backdrop, and once their ceremony concluded, guests continued to our Scandal Lounge for Cocktail Hour.

Guests returned to the transformed Metropolitan Terrace for the reception and plated dinner. They picked up their escort cards at the entrance and followed an elegant sign into the room. Awaiting each guest at their place setting was a black and white matchbook favor featuring the couple's wedding date and our favorite phrase - "Eat Drink And Be Married". It does not get more classic than a matchbook keepsake! A delicious cake cutting, a romantic first dance, and some breathtaking nighttime photos on our Suite balcony proceeded dinner service. Of course, no soiree can come to end without music and dancing for guests to enjoy into the night. This vintage evening proves that an era-inspired wedding can be truly timeless (especially when it's at The Citizen Hotel)!

Stay tuned for more fabulous couples that warm our hearts on these chilly days!
